Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S offers a 5020 mAh battery, which is definitely on the bigger end of the spectrum. To charge this big battery, it comes with an 18W fast charger, which cuts on the charging time drastically. This makes Note 9S a worthy successor to the Note 8 that only offered a 4000mAh battery. All this comes with a price tag of PRK 40,000 (launch price in Pakistan), which is admirable for a phone with such features.
But having a big battery is not enough; you need to balance it out with all the functionalities the device offers. Therefore, lets us take a look at how Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S fares against our Battery Charging and Drain test.
Redmi Note 9S Charging
The 18W fast charger allows Redmi Note 9S to charge from 0% to 100% in just 1hour and 45 minutes, whereas Redmi Note 8 Pro was taking a lot more with an average of 2 hours and 6 minutes to charge its 4500mAh battery. So, it is clear that this time Note 9S comes with a bigger capacity and faster-charging capabilities.
Now let us take a look at the consumption rate for this 5020mAh battery.
Video Loop
In the video test, we played a 1080p video with 100% volume and 50% brightness. Moreover, both SIMs are still inside the mobile, but we turned the data and Wi-fi off. With all said and done, it takes 12 hours and 24 minutes to drain the battery completely. This is on par with most of the Samsung and Huawei phones, but it still doesn’t compete with the likes of Vivo V19 and Vivo S1 Pro that last for over 17 and 19 hours, respectively. Furthermore, Realme 5i gives us 16 hours and 56 minutes, Vivo Y19 gives 15 hours and 45 minutes. Whereas, Realme C3 tops it with 20 hours and 34 minutes. Even Redmi 8A, which is much cheaper than Note 9S, gives a better backup with 15 hours and 11 minutes.
4 hrs 4G Test
In this test, we played multiple apps on Xiaomi Redmi Note 9S for 30 minutes to see how it affected the battery. During this test, Instagram consumed 4% of the battery in 30 minutes, Video recording consumed 9%, and Soundcloud took away 4% battery juice. Whereas TikTok drained 5%, WhatsApp video call, GSM call, YouTube, and PUBG drained 4%, 1%, 4%, and 8% battery, respectively.
This is among one of the best battery consumptions we have seen with these apps, consuming only 39% battery in 4 hours.
