Vivo Y33T Review

Vivo Y33T is the budget-level phone from Vivo that closely resembles an earlier version, Vivo Y33s. Both of them share many features; still, Y33T has its own uniqueness in some ways. It is better and more beautiful.

Let’s move ahead with our Vivo Y33T review and see is it a worthy successor to Y33S?

Vivo Y33t key features

  • Display: 6.58 inch IPS LCD, 2408 x 1080 (FHD+)
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 680, Adreno 610 GPU
  • OS: Funtouch 12, Android 11
  • RAM/ROM: 8GB/128GB + 4GB extended RAM
  • Camera (front): 16MP
  • Camera (rear): 50MP + 2MP + 2MP
  • Battery: 5000 mAh with 18W fast charge

The design sets it apart

Design is one of the prominent features of the Vivo Y33T that looks luxurious and trendy. It’s a dual-tone body that Vivo calls Starry Gold design.

The fluorite glitter texture and nano grade gradient color plating technology create a frosted golden surface with shiny lines.

Need not to say, it doesn’t attract fingerprints and smudges.

Another color variant is Midday Dream, which gives embossed AG texture with a frosted feel and a liquid crystal coating that is fingerprint smear-resistant.

The rectangular camera island sits nicely in the top left area of the rear carrying three lenses and a soft flashlight.

A metal-like plastic frame runs around Vivo Y33T that holds the rear and front display together and houses all necessary elements, including the side fingerprint scanner, volume keys, SIM tray, and connectivity slots.

Besides a new design language, Vivo Y33T is a sleek device with only 8.0 mm thick, excluding the camera bump, which adds to its overall beauty.

The front is an IPS LCD of 6.58-inches with noticeable bezels and a dewdrop notch for holding a 16MP selfie sensor. The 2408 x 1080 px screen resolution seems reasonable enough on this budget device. As with earlier Y series phones, the screen is smooth to swipe through and offers vivid and sharp content.

In addition to usual eye protection, dark theme, and screen colors options, Vivo Y33T also let you select the screen refresh rate from 90Hz, 60Hz, and Smart Switch. The third one relies on the phone’s internal mechanism to ensure minimum power consumption and the best possible refresh rate depending on the apps.

Performance is better this time

Y33T features Snapdragon 680 and coupled with a modest Adreno 610 GPU and 8GB RAM, the phone keeps things smoother for most tasks.

  • 128GB internal storage looks enough for most, but you can amplify it up to 1TB through a microSD card.
  • Y33T scored 289851 on Antutu benchmarking apps which is relatively better than Oppo F21 Pro (270115), Oppo A76 (269713), and Oppo A96 (273291) – all relying on SD 680.
  • Though it’s not a gaming chipset, it still manages to run [any] online game without a problem at the lowest graphics.
  • The sound through its single-firing speaker isn’t much of entertainment. The volume is decent for a small room but lacks bass giving you all the reason to connect an earphone.
  • Like the old brother, the latest model also comes with a 5000 mAh battery, and to charge it, Vivo gives a usual 18W Fast Charge.
  • Unlike Y33S, the battery on Y33T provides a considerably longer backup. The phone survived nearly 15 hours before falling flat in the video loop test. On 4G mobile data, the battery consumption is among the top performers. You can expect it to drain 10% battery after an hour of the TikTok session. YouTube is even more economical, with only a 6% battery discharge in 60 minutes. And if you make too many WhatsApp video calls, expect it to consume around 12% battery in an hour.
  • It can comfortably give you one whole day of backup with enough juice left to survive a few more hours the next day. If you aren’t a phone maniac, the 5000 mAh battery of Y33T can serve you for even two days. It is 25 to 30% better than Y33S. Find out the best battery phones we have tested.

Vivo Y33T camera

  • The 50MP rear lens is a treat to have on the phone. It takes 12.5MP images by default unless you select the 50MP option from the menu.
  • Daylight images carry good colors and reasonable details. The dynamic range is good also unless the lens confronts a strong light source that causes less than desired pictures.
  • 16MP takes clean selfies in the good daylight. If you want to take a well-exposed background on a sunny day, the HDR tool in the photo mode helps keep the sky blue and everything well exposed unless the background has a strong light source such as sun or neon light. In this case, the HDR can keep the subject intact, but it struggles to address the light source in the background.
  • Selfies without a light source in the background carry good facial detail and natural skin color.
  • Y33T offers many beauty modes and preset filters to further beautify yourself and create a little drama.
  • And If you want to take a vivid selfie with a warmer skin tone, try night mode.
