At the launch of Xiaomi Mi Play smartphone, Xiaomi has set a Guinness World Record for building the largest animated smartphone mosaic.
Using the Mi Play smartphone, the company created a huge dynamic display in the shape of a Christmas tree that measured a massive 8 meters. It took 1008 Mi Play smartphones to showcase such a huge and record-breaking display.
More interestingly, the display still stands in a mall in China and is not only a feast for the eyes but also acts as a mobile Wifi hotspot to provide seamless internet connectivity to the shoppers in the mall, becoming the biggest Wifi hotspot in Beijing city on Christmas eve.
It took 12 hours to build a display such large. The last phone in the display was placed by the Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. It broke the previous record of a dynamic display which consisted of 504 phones.
The record came on the launch of Xiaomi Mi Play, which is the latest phone from Chinese manufacturer which is a China only phone for now. The phone launched at approx. $160.
The specs of the phone include a 5.84-inch display with 2280 x 1080 resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. For the internals, it contains a MediaTek P35 chipset. Along with that, the device comes with a 4GB RAM and a 64GB internal storage.
For the optics, a dual camera on the back is installed with a 12MP+ 2MP snapper. On the front, it sports a tiny notch often referred to as waterdrop notch. The phone is juiced up by 3000mAh battery.
