Xiaomi has announced its selfie centric phone Xiaomi Redmi Y2 at an event in India. The Y series comes with better selfie camera and has been marketed for the youth. Redmi Y2 is the successor to Xiaomi’s previously launched Redmi Y1. However, the phone comes with some impressive features with a modest price tag.
Coming to the features of Xiaomi Redmi Y2, the device features a 5.99-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and 18:9 aspect ratio. Xiaomi has powered Redmi Y2 with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. The phone also includes a fingerprint sensor and a headphone jack.
The best feature of the phone is its selfie camera. The phone sports dual rear camera with 12MP and 5MP sensors while the selfie camera features a 16MP sensor. The selfie camera supports other features like AI-based portrait mode, smart beauty, smart HDR and the front camera sensor captures high quality pictures with more light.
Redmi Y2 comes with two variants; 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64Gb and the external storage is expandable to 256GB. The device has a microSD card slot. In terms of the battery, the phone features a decent battery of 3080mAh.
Other features of Redmi Y2 include face unlock, dual SIM, soft LED flash, fast charging, 3.5mm audio jack, and FM Radio. The phone will be available in three colors; elegant gold, rose gold and dark grey. The Xiaomi Y2 costs Rs 9,999 for the 3GB+32GB and Rs 12,999 for 4GB+64GB variants.
