Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro launched with a notch

Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi 6 Pro in China, the company’s latest mid-end smartphone. Earlier this month Xiaomi also announced its selfie centric phone Xiaomi Redmi Y2 at an event in India.

The company is endorsing the Redmi 6 Pro’s 5.84-inch 19:9 display, dual rear cameras, an octa-core Snapdragon 625 SOC, a 4000mAh battery. The device further boosts a dedicated microSD card slot, AI Face Unlock, beautification, portrait, and voice assistant features.

Xiaomi is famous for its pocket-friendly smartphones, but with this young lineup of Redmi, they are cornering other smartphone makers in providing the consumers with cheap and decent smartphones.

It was only two weeks ago when Chinese announced the mid-range Redmi 6 and the even more budget-friendly Redmi 6A. Now, this is the top of their Redmi series and it is quite evident by looking at the design and processor.

The key highlight of the Redmi 6 Pro is its tall 5.84-inch display that comes with the 19:9 aspect ratio and a notch like iPhone-X at the top. The Redmi 6 Pro comes in three RAM and storage options, i.e. 3GB+32GB, 4GB+32GB, and 4GB+64GB, and features a 12MP+5MP dual camera at back.

Around the front, you find a 5MP unit with HDR and AI portrait mode. Measuring 149.33×71.68×8.75mm and weighing in at 178g. It also features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The smartphone has triple slots that means we can have dual SIM networks and microSD card slot at hand.

The company claims the chipset is faster than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 and MediaTek’s MT6739 processor. On the software front, the new Redmi 6 Pro runs Android Oreo-based on Xiaomi’s custom ROM skin MIUI 9.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro declared prices in China are as CNY 999 (roughly $152) for the 3GB RAM, 32GB storage variant, CNY 1,199 (roughly $183) for the 4GB RAM, 32GB storage variant, and CNY 1,299 (roughly $198) for the 4GB, 64GB variant. It will be available in Black, Blue, Gold, Pink, and Red color variants.

There is still no word by Xiaomi that if will these devices available for the markets other than China but we hope that they are launched soon, especially with the same price bracket.
