Xiaomi is turning 8 on 31st May. That’s when the company plans to launch its latest flagship. As CEO Lei Jun has professed, it will be multi-product launch where we suspect Xiaomi Mi 8, Mi 7 and fitness tracker Mi Band 3 will be released. The release of Mi Max 3 is also rumored at the launch event.
Nonetheless, as the tradition goes, leaks about the phone cannot be stopped until the phone releases. Recently real life pictures of Xiaomi Mi 8 have surfaced on Weibo in which we can clearly have a look at the grandeur of the device.
From the front, the picture confirms earlier leaks about the screen having a notch. The notch hosts the earpiece, camera, and sensor. To be honest, it pretty much looks like any other phone today with a notch. The back of the phone is where it gets interesting. The phone has a glass panel on the back that is surprisingly a transparent and we can see the internals of the phone from the back.
The top left of the phone hosts a dual camera but interestingly a fingerprint scanner is nowhere to be seen on the body which implies that the earlier rumors were true and Xiaomi Mi 8 is actually getting an in-display fingerprint scanner.
The phone is expected to host the latest Snapdragon 845 with 6/8 GB RAM variants and a 4000 mAh battery to draw its power from. The glass back could also mean that it could be getting wireless charging too but let’s not get our hopes high as OnePlus 6 disappointed us by failing to provide wireless charging, despite having a glass back.
