Yesterday, Xiaomi shared an image on its official Weibo account saying that it would make a big announcement at 10:00 am. While some were thinking that it may be about the latest Pro version of Redmi Note 7, some thought that it would be about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship smartphone.
The company has finally put an end to the wait and has announced today that it would be hosting an event on February 20 to launch the much anticipated Xiaomi Mi 9 flagship. The launch, however, will only be specific to China and that the phone would be launched globally soon.
Looks like Galaxy S10 lineup is not the only ones launching on February 20. However, it seems strange that the companies are holding their launch events just before the MWC 2019. Maybe it’s all about making a statement.
Xiaomi Mi 9 successes the Xiaomi Mi 8 lineup and is expected to be laced with all the goodies to compete with the likes of Huawei and Samsung.
As for the specs, Mi 9 is reported to come with a Snapdragon 855. Earlier, the phone was spotted on the Geekbench benchmarking website where it was shown to achieve 3158 points in single-core test and a multi-core score of 11174 points.
It is also reported that the Xiaomi Mi 9 will come with a 27W fast charging as per the 3C certification that the phone received earlier. On the software front, it is expected to be equipped with Android Pie along with MIUI 10 on top.
While the specs haven’t been confirmed, the device may feature a 48MP + 12MP + 3D ToF lens in its triple camera setup like the Oppo R17 Pro. A 24MP selfie camera is expected to sit on the front along with a fingerprint scanner embedded in the display of the device. A 3500mAH battery will be responsible to drive the device throughout the day.
