Xiaomi has been known to produce quality phones for half of the price of flagships prevailing in the market which is exactly why Xiaomi has risen to 4th place in mobile manufacturers with respect to market shares in a very short span of time.
The company just turned 8 this April and according to a recent report, Xiaomi is not only releasing the much awaited Mi 7 but also the 8th-anniversary edition which is definitely going to steal the spotlight. Although the exact release date is still a mystery, both the phones are expected to be released by the end of May 2018.
As per the latest report, the launch of the Xiaomi Mi 7 was delayed because the company faced poor results with its 3D facial recognition feature. Now, it looks like the 8th Anniversary Edition will be bringing this 3D facial recognition technology, but it’s still unclear whether this means that the Mi 7 will have that feature or not.
The report adds that both phones will sport a notched display keeping with the current industry trend. In fact, some live images suggest the notch could be wider than the iPhone X, perhaps to accommodate the 3D facial recognition sensor. Like the Mi 7, the special edition phone will also be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset coupled with up to 8GB of RAM.
Earlier this week leaked live images of Xiaomi Mi 7 showed the phone placed alongside a larger model, thought to be Mi 7 Plus, but chances are that it could also be the much-rumored 8th-anniversary edition.
Irrespective of what will the 8th-anniversary edition phone be called, it will be the first Android phone to feature a 3D facial recognition. We are expecting teasers from the company in the coming days. Are you as much excited as we are?
