The Chinese smartphone maker finally announced the availability of its much anticipated Vivo Apex smartphone that was unveiled in MWC 2018 in Barcelona and caught all the deserved attention thanks to its sheer beauty and elegant design. Vivo indeed pushed the limits for innovation while designing this handset. It’s not only an absolute beauty to look at, but also a performance powerhouse packed with all the essentials of a true flagship.
This is the part where it all gets interesting. With a courtly crafted glass back, Vivo Apex features an unparalleled highest screen to body ratio with a value of 91%. The top and side bezels of Vivo Apex are 1.8 mm thin and the bottom bezel is 4.3 mm.
Yet another staggering offering in Vivo Apex is its Screen SoundCasting Technology which transforms the entire display of the phone into a speaker. Amazing! isn’t it? The Screen SoundCasting Technology sends sound vibrations through the screen eliminating the need for a traditional loudspeaker. According to Vivo this technology conserves energy and delivers excellent sound.
Vivo has beautifully managed to get rid of the notch by placing an elevating front camera which effortlessly rises in 0.8 seconds when it is required and draws back in when it’s done. Proximity sensor and the ambient light sensor is also hidden beneath the screen and the earpiece of the phone also works on the principals of vibration of glass particles in the screen.
Although Vivo has not given out much about specs, we do know that the phone will offer Snapdragon 845 just like all the other flagships such as the much awaited Google Pixel 3 and OnePlus 6. Vivo has also placed an in screen fingerprint scanner which transforms its lower half of the OLED screen into a fingerprint reader. The phone also offers an optional dual fingerprint scanning technology which means that the phone won’t unlock unless both the fingers are placed on the scanning area simultaneously.
The phone hosts an 8 MP selfie shooter. Since Vivo did not announce the specs for the rear camera, we can pretty much assume that based on the specification, it should be around a 20 MP shooter with all the nitty-gritty that we love to see in such a phone.
A 3.5 mm headphone jack is also included (in case you music lovers are wondering).
At first, we were saddened that Vivo Apex would only be a concept smartphone which would never get to see the light of the day but thankfully Vivo has announced to launch the device in Shanghai, China on June 12.
Apex is going to be the most exciting innovation of this year. Lenovo is also planning to launch an all-screen phone with enormous specs but hasn’t quite confirmed the date yet.
