Vivo Apex, the full-screen smartphone that will arguably be one of the most exciting innovations of this year is finally ready for the people. The company is hosting an event on June 12 in Shanghai, China where it is likely going to showcase the highly anticipated smartphone for consumers.
The company originally marketed Vivo Apex as a concept smartphone but then later in March it announced that the smartphone will be available for the people and would go into production in mid-2018. Now, we likely have a date for its official unveiling next month.
The Chinese company caused quite a stir in the handset industry earlier this year when it showed the Vivo Apex as a concept smartphone at the Mobile Wolrd Congress (MWC) 2018. A month before that at CES 2018, it also made a splash when it demonstrated the functioning under-display fingerprint scanner in its smartphone.
Over the years, we have become accustomed to expect innovation from major brands like Samsung, Apple, etc. but the Chinese companies have changed the game.
Huawei changed the smartphone photography scene this year with the introduction of triple camera system at the back of the device and now Vivo is jumping in the industry to provide an actual all-screen smartphone with no bezels and no ugly notch.
When it comes to a bezel-less design, the only problem the smartphones face is, “what to do with the front camera and the earpiece?” Vivo Apex has solved this problem with the introduction of a pop-up camera and Screen Sound Casting technology that delivers vibrations through the display to deliver sound and act as the earpiece as well as the loudspeaker.
The new smartphone will also come with an under-display fingerprint scanner, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, 6 inches large OLED screen, USB Type-C connector, and 3.5mm headphone jack. The rest of the specs are still a mystery to us.
