The best features of Oppo Find X2 Pro; Does it compete Galaxy S20 Ultra?

Oppo Find X2 Pro isn’t another Oppo phone that pumps out every six months looking to target youth. It’s a flagship device that means business. The first version landed in 2018, and now, after one a half year, we come across the second edition that is coming in three variants; standard, Pro, and Lamborghini. Certainly, Oppo has taken enough time to polish it before it hit the shelves.

The Find X2 Pro is literally stuffed with so many specs that make it one of the finest Oppo phones so far, even that goes head to head with phones like Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra.

120Hz Screen Refresh Rate

Find X2 Pro features a 6.7-inch curved OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, which is, of course, similar to what Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra offers, but what the latter lacks is the 240 touch sampling rate. The refresh rate of this capacity gives a very fluid display that is noticeably better than the 60Hz display we usually find in almost every smartphone. The animations happen at a 2X faster rate that is smoother to experience.

Samsung is always famous for its display quality, but here S20 Ultra and Find X2 Pro don’t create much of the difference with their 1440 x 3200 px and 1440 x 3168 px screen resolutions respectively.

Although the refresh rate makes a screen look damn smooth, the downside is the massive toll on the battery life, which drains faster, almost cuts the life to half when used at QuadHD+ resolution unless you revert it to 1080p resolution.

In the case of Samsung, you can only switch to 120Hz at 1080p resolution.

Super VOOC Charge 2.0

Oppo seems to be shy of putting 5000 mAh batteries into its phones, and this is what we see in Find X2 Pro, where only 4260 mAh battery looks weaker than S20 Ultra’s 5000 mAh bar. There is a good side too, SuperVOOC 2.0 flash charge top up the battery back to full in 38 mins with its 65W fast charger, something highly missing in Samsung’s flagship.

Only 48MP lens but bigger image sensor

Samsung can simply think of winning the battle here with its 108MP lens and a 100x zoom, but the latter is nothing more than a marketing gimmick. Oppo, on the other hand, features a 48MP lens that uses Sony’s latest IMX689 sensor that is custom-built for Oppo. This gives a bigger sensor size 1/143 inch that means better light capturing and improved photography experience with the main lens.

There is another 48MP ultrawide lens using Sony’s IMX586 sensor that helps give a similar photo quality as with the main lens.

Find X2 Pro has another periscope lens that completes the triple camera setup on the rear side. It is a 13MP sensor that has the ability to give 5x optical zoom and 10x hybrid zoom, which furthers to 60x digital zoom.

All in all, with the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset, 12GB RAM and 512 internal storage, Oppo has built a real head turner that comes in Ceramic Black and Orange Leather, something refreshing, and unlike run of the mill premium glass back.
