Research Shows 5.7% Growth in Active Social Media Users in Pakistan

Recent research by Hootsuite and “We Are Social” has revealed that the number of active social media users has jumped drastically all around the world by 9%, while in Pakistan 2 Million active social media users have been added till January, constituting a 5.7% growth over last year.

The total number of active social media users has reached to 37million in Pakistan with a penetration of 18% while the total number of internet users stand at 44.61 Million with a penetration of 22%.

Pakistan’s mobile internet users as a percentage of the population were recorded at 21% at end of January 2019, as per the report prepared by We Are Social and Hootsuite.

The survey concluded that the percentage of the adult population that uses mobile phones in 82%, but only 32% of the population is Pakistan uses smartphones. Furthermore, only 10% use laptop or desktop computer and the handheld tablets come in the last position with only 1% of the population using them. Television is used by 76% adult population and wearable tech like smartwatches, smart bands etc is used by only 1% of the population.

Note that these statistics specifically aim for the adult population and not the underage kids using such electronic devices.

The frequency of internet usage on an everyday basis for personal reasons was recorded at 58% every day, 31% at least once per week, 8% at least once a month and 3% less than once per month, the report stated.

As of January 2019, the total number of active social media users was recorded at 37 million, active social media users as a percentage of the population were 18%.

And the overall number of active social media users accessing via mobile devices was recorded at 36 million and active social media users as a percentage of the population were 18%, said the report.
