Realme phones in Pakistan are taking help from their parent brand, OPPO, to create brand awareness in the smartphone industry. According to the media invite for the launch of Realme 3 next week, the Realme brand will carry the “powered by OPPO” tagline in the country.
The smartphone brand first came into being as a sub-brand of OPPO and launched its first smartphone in India in May 2018. Later in June, Realme announced that it was separating itself from OPPO to become a distinct identity which would focus on developing smartphones that offered stylish design and strong performance to young people.
Realme first came into Pakistan in January this year with Realme 2 Pro and Realme C1 smartphones. It appears the brand hasn’t received the recognition it expected at the time of launch; thus it needs the parent company to stand behind it for gaining a quick momentum in the market.
Last year, Huawei and Honor were also ready to go their separate ways, but earlier this year Honor’s President denounced the news and this month, the two companies have revealed that they will be working together to gain the top spots in the global as well as regional smartphone markets.
It is likely that OPPO will do the same with its own sub-brand and keep the connection alive between the two companies by marketing the Realme phones in Pakistan under OPPO’s name.
The Chinese smartphone giant recently also announced new smartphones under its new sub-brand Reno which was made to focus on flagship devices and maybe the three would follow Huawei’s footsteps to fight towards dominance in the global market collectively.
