For those who don’t know, Qualcomm’s forthcoming flagship, Snapdragon 855 will be renamed as Snapdragon 8150 upon its launch. Two other mid-range models will also be launched, namely Snapdragon 6150 and 7150. A new Qualcomm chip with benchmark results was spotted today in the GeekBench database, and it’s suspected to be the upcoming SND8150.
Snapdragon 845 scored around 2,500 or so in the single-core test and 8,900 in the multi-core test while its successor largely surpasses it by scoring 3200+ in the single-core test and the multi-core points exceed 11000. The gap is obvious enough to point us to the direction of Qualcomm’s new flagship.
The processor is expected to be officially unleashed in the first quarter of 2019 and will be manufactured using a 7nm FinFET process. Adding to this, an independent NPU will also be added to the chip which will greatly improve the AI performance in comparison with the current flagship.
As said above, the Snapdragon 8150 is expected to be commercially available in the first months of next year, but it should debut at the annual summit in Hawaii in December. Two other mid-range chipsets, namely the Snapdragon 6150 and 7150, are also expected to launch alongside the 8150.
