Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and GSM Association (GSMA) are going to establish the first-ever international “PTA-GSMA Capacity Building Centre of Excellence” which will be the epicenter for regional regulatory training.
The two parties have signed an agreement at PTA Headquarters and will arrange and jointly host different international training workshops on the emerging topics related to ICT and telecommunication development. The purpose of these training sessions would be to improve the knowledge and professional skills of the government officials and regulatory professionals from the South Asian and Central Asian states.
According to the signed agreement, PTA will focus on arranging hosting facilities for instance venue, logistic arrangements, etc. while GSMA will take care of the trainers/speakers and will cover the cost of travel and accommodation. The training will be provided free of charge to the participants every quarter for the next 2 years.
Under the program, PTA will provide localhost facilities such as venue, logistic arrangements while GSMA will arrange trainers/speakers and cover their cost of travel and accommodation. The trainings will be provided free of cost to the participants every quarter for the next two years.
At the signing ceremony, Chairman PTA Maj Gen. (R) Amir Azeem Bajwa expressed his hope that the first ever GSMA global center will provide opportunities to policymakers and professionals from the regional countries to get trained in the upcoming technologies like 5G. The first event under the training program will be held on 3rd July 2019.
