Privacy-centered Tor Browser arrives on Android

If you are concerned about privacy and security while browsing online there is a good chance that you have heard about Tor browser which allows people to browse anonymously across the web. The privacy-focused browser which until recently was only available for desktop finally has a stable Android version which can be downloaded from Google Play store.

The Tor Project first release the app’s alpha version for public testing in September 2018 which came with a lot of bugs and stability issues. Since then, they have been working on perfecting the mobile app for smartphones and finally, according to the company, the 8.5 version of the Tor browser is stable enough for Android smartphones.

As compared with the desktop version, the mobile browser still has a long way to go as it still doesn’t provide all the features that people can enjoy on their computers but the essential protection protocols are working to help the user stay safe online.

With the majority of people accessing the internet through their phones, the availability of Tor browser for Android can help users to evade heavy surveillance and censorship online by redirecting the traffic to multiple proxy networks and blocking the trackers to hide the user’s location.

As of now, there is no official iOS version of the browser but the Tor Project recommends that the iPhone users can download install Onion Browser iOS app if they want to use Tor on their smartphones.
