Chinese manufacturer Oppo has announced to invest 1 billion Yuan ($146 million approx.) to encourage content developers to create gaming, video and other types of quality content.
The announcement came after Oppo reached the mark of 250 million monthly active smartphone users. Moreover, every month more than 200 million smartphone users download apps for Oppo store and gaming center.
With such a huge investment in R&D, Oppo eyes to enhance its technical expertise and integrate it with the supply chain. The company is also planning to use AI to develop a wide range of smart devices including smart home hubs and smartwatches all of which will align with the ongoing demand for the Internet of Things (IoT) products.
Not only that, Oppo also aims to top the 5G race and has already managed to achieve a milestone of Wechat video call through 5G network, as tweeted Alen Wu, Global Vice President of Oppo.
It seems that Oppo is also ready to stay abreast with the latest technological developments like the 5G as Tony Chen, CEO of OPPO stated “5G is a trend Oppo must embrace. In addition to striving to become the first manufacturer to launch 5G phones, Oppo’s exploration of application opportunities in the 5G+ era will ultimately determine the value of 5G”
Judging by the company’s aggressive approach towards advancing in new technological avenues, it seems Oppo could also be one of the brands in the race to launch the world’s first 5G phone.
