Bezel-less has been the buzz in the industry for quite a time now, and every smartphone manufacturer is striving to provide an all screen phone. Surprisingly, most of the innovation in smartphones has come forth from Chinese manufacturers. Recently Oppo has launched its much-awaited flagship, Oppo Find X, that truly pushed the boundaries of innovation and set the bar high in the smartphone industry.
Announced recently, Oppo Find X managed to steal the spotlight with its unique design features. It might be the company’s most applaudable phone to date.
One of the most significant challenges that today’s smartphones manufacturers face is the design ergonomics and placement of modules like camera and fingerprint sensor. Oppo Find X presents an elegant solution to all this with its exciting design.
The phone has a stunning finish of glass front and back with a metal frame sandwiched in between. What’s noticeable the most is that neither the front nor the back of the phone host a camera. The camera is embedded in the phone body just like the Vivo Nex and pops up every time you want to unlock your phone or take a picture.
Oppo Find X also doesn’t feature a fingerprint sensor and instead uses the company’s “O-Face” unlock technology. The power switch lies on the right of the phone while the volume keys are on the left. The bottom of the phone hosts a single speaker, USB Type C port, and sim tray. Thye phone doesn’t have any IP rating so you might not want to drop it accidentally in water.
Oppo Find X has managed to get rid of the dreaded notch by featuring a full display with almost no bezels. The company claims the phone to have a 93.8 % screen to body ratio which is the highest in the industry.
The screen takes the whole front of the phone except a negligible chin and top bezel. The sides of the screen are curved as in Samsung’s Infinity display. A 6.42-inch AMOLED screen graces the phone with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and a 19.5:9 ratio and we all know how mesmerizing results an AMOLED display can produce so the screen quality on the phone is expected to be amazing.
Oppo Find X is all about sheer power and doesn’t hold back in flaunting its flagship worthy specs that go toe-to-toe with latest big guns in the industry like OnePlus 6.
The phone houses the latest Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Oppo’s Color OS 5.1 overlay.
As for the cameras, the phone features a dual camera at the back and a single selfie camera. All three cameras are not visible and pop out of the top of phone’s body with the help of motorized mechanism. Rear camera setup consists of a 16MP (f/2.0) primary and 20MP (f/2.2) secondary cameras, with OIS. Meanwhile, the front camera does a 25MP (f/2.0) resolution.
Oppo Find X hosts a 3,730mAh battery that comes with company’s VOOC flash charging technology. Disappointingly the phone doesn’t support wireless.
Price and availability
Oppo Find X is crazily priced at 999 Euros, or $1,157. We think the price may be a little higher than expected, but then again the phone belongs to a lineup of super premium phones and such level of engineering comes at a price. The phone will be available for retail from August 2018.
A more luxurious Lamborghini edition of the phone will also be available for sale that will be priced much higher than the regular version and will sit at 1,699 Euros, or USD 1967.
