HMD Global is trying to revive a forgotten name from the past in form of a new phone, Nokia X. Previously a phone was launched with the same name in 2014 but didn’t quite hit the success mark. The Nokia X (also named as Nokia X6) is likely to debut soon and probably will go official any moments now as loads of teaser images and leaks have already dropped in.
The phone is going to be a mid-tier device that will fall in somewhere between Nokia 6 and Nokia 7 Plus. With plenty of images of the device and leaked information, here is all that you want to know about the device.

Usually, in this age of social media buzz, it’s very hard to contain a phone secret until its launch. Photos of Nokia X firstly popped on social media website Baidu which confirmed the speculations about design.
The Nokia X appears to have a 19:9 screen with the small cutout housing the selfie camera, earpiece and the proximity sensor. The side bezels are pretty skinny, while the chin of the phone is a bit thicker and has room only for the Nokia logo. This will undoubtedly open HMD for allegations of copying Apple, especially since the phone’s name is the same of Apple’s latest flagship, iPhone X.
The back has the dual camera and the dual-LED flash lined in vertically. The fingerprint scanner is just below the camera.
Both the camera and the scanner have a silver lining around them. The detail is also seen in the volume rocker and the power button, placed on the right side of the phone. The phone’s back seems to be made out of glass. and on the top we can also see a headphone jack too.
A device strongly believed to be Nokia X with model number TA-1099 has surfaced on TENAA certification website revealing all its key specs. The device will come with Android Oreo and will have an octa-core CPU clocked at of 1.8GHz. Although the chipset is not mentioned, the clock speed resembles that of Snapdragon 636, which confirms it to be a mid-range handset. Interestingly enough, a model with the Helio P60 SoC with 4GB of RAM had also been mentioned in previous rumors, so it remains to be seen what we’ll get.
There will be three RAM options to choose from, 3/4/6 GB with storage of 32/64 GB. Nokia X will have a 5.8-inch screen with a 1080 x 2280 resolution. The phone will come with a 3000 mAh battery.
The phone has just surfaced on a benchmarking site giving us the single core and multicore scores of the device which look pretty promising. The benchmark results also confirm that the phone will come with a Snapdragon 636.
The phone will have a dual camera on its rear with the primary snapper being 16 MP while secondary sensor resolution has not been listed. We do know that selfie camera will be 16 MP.
According to Nokia’s official Weibo page, it seems the Nokia X will be announced on May 16 in Beijing, China. This date has been mentioned along with a photo of the phone itself on the official Nokia account.
The teaser images for the Nokia X have only been seen in China at this time. This may indicate the device isn’t destined for international release, at least initially. While the Nokia name is known all around the world, HMD Global has repeatedly launched its smartphones in China first — the Nokia 5, Nokia 6 and Nokia 7, for example — and maintaining this pattern for the Nokia X wouldn’t be a surprise.
