At MWC 2019, The leading Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Huawei announced that it will be launching Huawei Mate 20 X 5G model later this year and while we do not know the exact price or release date, new leaked specs highlight that it will be quite different from its 4G counterpart.
The leaked information reveals that the screen size of the new smartphone will remain the same but the battery capacity will be seeing a downgrade which is not really a welcome surprise as we know that 5G connectivity will cause a substantial battery drain.
Huawei Mate 20 X 5G model is rumored to come with 4200mAh battery capacity but on the bright side with 40W SuperCharge feature, you can expect the device to charge up pretty fast to help with day to day functionality for the users.
As of now, there is no way for us to verify this leak but the reason why we are taking it seriously is that 5G antennae take up more space than 4G versions and it is quite possible for Huawei to downgrade the battery capacity to make more room inside the phone. Recently the phone’s retail packaging also leaked online:
4200mAh is still a pretty respectable battery choice for any smartphone nowadays even with a large 7.2 inches of display but initially, we can expect small compromises in the 5G devices.
Just a quick reminder, the last year’s Mate 20 X features 7.2 inches of OLED display, Kirin 980 chipset and the same triple camera as the Mate 20 Pro. It has a 5000mAh battery but lacks 40W SuperCharge which may make up for the downgrade in the 5G variant.
Huawei Mate X, the company’s foldable phone will be making its way to the smartphone market in June and it is likely that the Huawei Mate 20 X 5G variant will follow suit.
