If you are an Apple fan and prefer your iPhone to be smaller and cheaper as well as many people do then you may be pleased to hear that there are rumors pointing to an iPhone SE 2 launching later this year. Rumors have been swirling around the launch of the phone for a past couple of months now, but as of now, Apple is widely expected to release the phone in the 3rd quarter of this year.

Now, we have a pretty good idea of what the US-based company’s next relatively cheaper iPhone will be called. That’s because reliable mobile leaker Evan Blass has revealed that the next iPhone SE will be known as the iPhone SE (2018).
This is convincing, considering the naming pattern that Apple has adopted. The new iPhone flagship line-up is also rumored to be released with simple names without any hefty suffixes.
Design and Specs
Noted Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said in a memo that Apple will probably not revamp the iPhone SE too much with a new model since it’ll be so busy unveiling three different iPhones and will probably not have enough spare resources. If this is to be believed, then iPhone SE 2 will have the same design as its predecessor without any major changes except the internals.
A famous leaker Ben Geskin also thinks that the iPhone SE 2018 will not have much changes in design than its prequel but may have a glass back which indicates that it might support wireless charging.
I have to say, that my main source is saying that SE2 will have the same design (and display) as the first SE, but with a glass back.

However, some other leaks suggest that the new iPhone SE will have the same size as its predecessor but will feature an edge-to-edge display and a notch just like the iPhone X. Renowned mobile case manufacturer Olixar has shown off renders of an iPhone on their website with an all-screen design and notch similar to the flagship iPhone X.
This means the traditional home button will be removed from the device as the screen covers the entire front of the phone and with no physical button, the iPhone SE 2 could be the next Apple device to get Face ID technology which unlocks the device by simply looking at it.
A Chinese report suggests that the iPhone SE 2 will feature an A10 Fusion chip, previously found in iPhone 7 while the rest of the specs may remain the same as its predecessor. The phone will have a 2GB or 3GB of RAM with 32GB and 128GB storage options.
The battery will also receive an upgrade from 1640 mAh to 1740 mAh. In addition to this, we could also see a 7MP front camera.
It’s possible that the iPhone SE 2018 could launch at Apple’s WWDC event in June, and this theory was backed by the French site Consomac because Apple has just registered a bunch of new phone models with the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC).
Ming-Chi Kuo said, “with three new models in the pipeline for the second half of 2018, we believe Apple may have used up its development resources”. This might be reliable information keeping in mind that Apple is already busy working on the new line-up of iPhone in 2018.
A Japanese blog, Macotakara has also pointed towards the September launch saying that due to the expected flagship line-up of iPhone this year, the possibility of an early launch of iPhone SE 2 seems quite low.
