Last year, the smartphone makers looked towards pop-up camera technology to provide an all-screen display without a notch or a hideous cutout. This year, companies like OPPO and Xiaomi are working towards hiding the camera under the display where the latter has already unveiled a working prototype at MWC Shanghai 2019.
Now, Huawei is also throwing its hat in the race and according to a recent patent application is working at developing an under-display camera smartphone for its users.
The Chinese smartphone maker is no stranger to innovation and has patented an interface in Germany which has incorporated an under-display camera at the top left corner of the screen.
The front camera is visible in some of the images of the interface and one of them shows usable screen space over the under-display camera.
We do not know whether the company has started working on the technology or is already underway to develop it for the users. Huawei has successfully experimented with notches, punch hole cameras, pop-up cameras and we have to wait and see whether under display cameras will make it to the list.
Again, not all patents result into finished products so wait for more information before expecting the under-display camera smartphone in the near future.
