HTC has launched its first flagship phone of 2018, the U12+. The phone released today as a successor of last year’s U11+. As the early reports suggested, the company truly made this phone to rival against the industry’s big guns. The company always produces magnificent phones in terms of design and HTC U12+ in no less than what we expected.
As the leaks suggested earlier, U12+ does not bear many differences from its predecessor and comes in almost the same design with 3D Glass back. Although what is interesting is that we can see a variant of the phone with a transparent glass back through which the phone’s internals can be seen just like the earlier leaked photos of Xiaomi Mi 8.
The phone sports a 6-inch Super LCD with a QHD+ resolution of 1440 x 2880 pixels. The device also comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio and HDR 10 support, just like the U11+. Astonishingly the company has not adopted the notch trend so the U12+ comes without a notch and with minimum bezels.
HTC U12+ packs dual camera setup both on front and back. On the front, we get both cameras of 8MP that come with Face Unlock and improved portrait shots while on the back the twin camera setup lies horizontally above fingerprint sensor and flash.
The main camera is 12 MP wide-angle lens and can record 4K videos at 60fps and 1080p slow-motion videos at 240fps with Ultra Pixel technology and the second camera is 16 MP telephoto lens.
Under the hood, HTC U12+ packs the powerful Snapdragon 845 accompanied by 6 GB RAM. The phone comes with 64GB and 128 GB storage option with the option to expand storage up to 2TB. On top of that, the phone features Edge Sense 2.0 and ships with Android Oreo out of the box that will be upgradable to the upcoming Android P.
The phone comes with IP68 water and dust resistance and is backed by a 3,500mAh battery which can charge up to 50 percent in 35 minutes with Quick Charge 3.0 using USB C Type charger.
The HTC U12+ launched in three different colors, translucent blue, ceramic black, and flame red color and is now available for pre-order at $799 for the 64GB variant and $849 for the 128GB variant.
