HMD Global launched the Nokia 8.1 in a much-anticipated event in Dubai. Though the event was rumored to bring three phones, Nokia 3.1 plus, 5.1 Plus and Nokia 8.1, the company maintained its focus on one phone for now and did not mention the other two phones.
Just as expected, Nokia 8,1 is the international version of the Nokia X7 that was earlier launched in China. The phone is also expected to come to Pakistan with a huge price tag, although it costs almost 450% internationally.
The handset is stuffed with the latest software and a premium hardware. It comes loaded with Android 9.0 Pie and features a series-6000 magnesium alloy frame with glass panels on both the front and rear end with a copper rim.
Nokia 8.1 Plus packs the latest display tech which the company calls Pureview Display Technology which is a 6.18-inch IPS LCD screen with a notch at the top and an 18.7:9 aspect ratio. The display features an FHD+ resolution of 2246 x 1080 pixels and an impressive 86.5-percent screen to body ratio.
A snapdragon 710 powers up the device paired with 4GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage, however, different memory options may be available for different markets worldwide.
The most notable of all of the device’s characteristics is its photography ability. In a dual rear camera setup, the phone packs a 12MP main sensor and a 13Mp depth sensor. the rear camera setup comes with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS), dual PDAF, AI Scene detection, and low light optimization.
On the front, Nokia 8.1 features a 20MP selfie shooter that is embedded in the large notch along with an earpiece and other sensors.
Though we see pretty beefy specs here, the phone seems to come on a decent price. However, in Pakistan, the phone will launch around RS. 70,000, as our sources claim. will the Nokia 8.1 be able to stand against the likes of Vivo V11 Pro and Honor 10? Do let us know in the comments below.
