HMD Global cancels Nokia 5.1 Plus launch

In a surprising yet understandable turn of events, HMD Global has canceled the launch of Nokia 5.1 Plus. The phone also goes by the Nokia X5 moniker and was set to launch globally on July 11 but the company canceled the event temporarily.

Apparently, unfavorable weather conditions were the main reason for the cancelation of the event. It might be so because the company wanted to make it a big event since it was an international launch, and the weather must have proven a hurdle in doing so.

The message came from the company’s official Weibo account along with the apology for canceling the launch event of Nokia 5.1 Plus. The rescheduled time of the event is not shared yet but we will keep you updated once it does.

Nokia 5.1 Plus was earlier detected on TENAA certifications a TA-1109.

The device is expected to come with a 5.86-inch display with 720×1520 resolution which makes it a 19:9 aspect ratio display. Just like the earlier released Nokia X6, this phone will also come with a notch and if the leaked renders of the phone are to be believed then it will come with almost with the same design language as the X6.

Nokia 5.1 Plus will be powered by a 2.0 GHz Octa-Core MediaTek Helio P23 or a P60 processor accompanied by a 3/4 GB RAM along with 32/64 GB internal memory options.

HMD Global is also expected to launch Nokia 6.1 Plus, the international version of earlier released Nokia X6, on July 19. It is going to be an Android One device and will sport a Snapdragon 636 processor along with 4/6 GB RAM options.
