Does overpricing your phone make it on par with Apple’s iPhone X? Of course not! but Vivo seems to think so. The company has listed its upcoming Vivo Nex and Nex S on its website along with the specifications and extremely high prices.
Although the images were taken down shortly but couldn’t escape the gaze of the tech world. We now have the knowledge of complete specs along with images of both the phones.
Earlier the company released its iPhone clone the Vivo V9, which proved to be a disaster in our real life review. It’s mind fazing to think why Vivo is so bent on proving itself Apple’s counterpart considering it’s a new manufacturer and still has a lot of time to develop a stable market around the globe.
Here are the complete specs and prices of the Vivo Nex and Nex S according to the official website.
Vivo Nex S
Between the two models, the Vivo Nex S seems to be the one with more powerful specs. The phone will feature the latest Snapdragon 845 along with 8GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage and will come equipped with Android 8.0 and Vivo’s Funtouch OS on top.
The Vivo NEX S comes with a huge 6.59 inch having 2,316 x 1080 pixels of resolution. The exact screen-to-body ratio was not mentioned on the official listing.
Although the exact screen to body ratio was not mentioned officially, considering the notch less design we expect the phone to ace the list of phones with the highest screen to body ratio. It comes with a mammoth 4000mAh battery to satiate the power needs of the huge display.
The device is listed with a 9999 Yuan ($1560) price tag which seems ridiculous considering the ordinary glass back design that we have repeatedly seen in the smartphone industry. However Nex S won’t be the first phone with a notch less display, we have already seen in Mi Mix 2s which is priced around $500-$560 depending upon the region of availability.
The phone has a dual rear camera with 12 MP and 5 MP sensor and front face pop up camera of 8MP as seen earlier in the Vivo Apex concept. The phone also comes with the much hyped under-display fingerprint scanner.
Vivo Nex is the younger sibling of the S version and will come with Qualcomm’s all new Snapdragon 710 mid-tier processor and is driven by 6GB RAM along with 128GB storage and a 4000 mAh battery.
The phone will have the same 6.59-inch screen and will come with the same camera specs as the Nex S. However Vivo Nex will not feature the under-display sensor as the S version, instead will come with a traditionally placed fingerprint sensor on the back.
Vivo Nex will feature the same design language as the Nex S. We dare say that it would be unjust of Vivo to price such a normally designed phone so high. The handset will also be priced at 9999 Yuan ($1560) as the S version.
The devices are set to launch on June 12 as announced earlier by the company. Although Chinese smartphone makers like OnePlus, Huawei, Oppo are known to provide good specs with a decent price tag, such high prices on the Nex series might affect the sales of the phone as there are much better options already available at much lower prices such as the P20 Pro, OnePlus 6 and Mate 10 Pro and many more.
