Honor 9X is due to arrive on 23rd July alongside Honor 9X Pro and is already a source of excitement in the tech world. It is the successor to the last year’s Honor 8X smartphone (Review) which was a fan favorite among the budget users and won an award for its beautiful design.
According to the recent leaks and teasers, Honor is taking the design game to the next level in Honor 9X and is ready to provide better and upgraded features for smartphone users. Let’s break them all down to see all the key features of the device:
Honor 9X is rumored to come with dual glass build alongside a metal frame. The phone will come with minim bezels at the front and a gradient paint job at the back.
Pop-up Selfie Camera
The leaked schematics of Honor 9X, courtesy of Evan Blass, a renowned tipster, shows that the smartphone will feature an elevating selfie camera which will pop-up from the top left side of the smartphone. This will make Honor 9X the first device by the Chinese smartphone maker which will offer a Full View Display without a notch or a cutout for the front camera.
Not only Honor 9X, but the Pro variant of the smartphone will also feature a pop-up selfie camera to free up more screen space for the users.
Long Battery Life
The latest teaser of Honor 9X shared by Honor’s VP George Zhao on Weibo shows a clock stacked to the retail box of the device which is likely a hint towards the long-lasting battery life of the smartphone.
The device is expected to come with 4000mAh battery and thus, we are a bit skeptical about this claim. Looking at some other phones which offer the same battery capacity like the recently launched Honor Y9 Prime 2019 which lasted for 8 hours and 36 minutes during our battery drain test, we have to wait and see whether Honor will live up to its promise.
George Zhao in his Weibo post also shared a teaser which showed a gaming console right next to the retail box of Honor 9X which is likely a nod towards the phone’s gaming capabilities.
Looking at this teaser, we can assume the smartphone to feature GPU Turbo 3.0 for better gaming performance.
Speedy Kirin 810 Chipset
Honor 9X is expected to come with Huawei’s latest Kirin 810 chipset and according to a teaser image, it will offer speedy performance to the user.
In the above image, you can see that a toy car is speeding forward and is almost a blur as compared to the stationary car ahead which is likely a hint towards the phone’s mighty performance. If the phone comes with EMUI 9.1 out of the box, the GPU Turbo 3.o will surely kick the performance in the last gear.
Side-mounted Fingerprint Sensor
The schematics do not show a fingerprint sensor at the back of the smartphone which makes us believe that Honor may introduce a side-stacked sensor just like the one featured in the Honor 20 series. Since Honor 9X will likely feature an LCD display instead of AMOLED or OLED, we can rule out the possibility of an in-display fingerprint sensor in the upcoming budget phone.
Google has finally patched things up with Huawei after US government eased the ban restrictions and thus we can expect Honor 9X to come with Android Pie right out of the box. But we have to wait and see whether the skin on top will be EMUI 9.0 or EMUI 9.1.
Honor 9X is one of the most awaited devices of this year and is scheduled to launch in the Pakistani market at the end of July or in August 2019.
