Huawei still testing Hongmeng OS; Plans to launch with Huawei Mate 30

Huawei Hongmeng OS

After a few fierce weeks, the US government eased the restrictions placed on Huawei and allowed it to work together with Google and stay with the Android family. Looking at the turn of events, many assumed that the company’s Plan B, its custom made Hongmeng OS will take a back seat but according to a new report, the company is still testing it with Huawei Mate 30 and will launch the two together later this year.

A source told Huawei Central that the Chinese smartphone maker is inviting people to test the Hongmeng OS on its new device and is planning to release it alongside Huawei Mate 30. The company has not yet confirmed the release date for the upcoming mate 30 series but if we look at the past releases, we can anticipate the phones to release in October 2019.

The launch month of Mate 30 series also coincides with the previous report highlighting the company’s plan to ship 225 million smartphones with Hongmeng OS by the end of October 2019. Previously, Huawei CEO, Richard Yu also revealed the possible debut of Hongmeng OS in Q4 2019 and looking at the Huawei’s effort to trademark the software in multiple countries, we can assume the company is not yet ready to leave its trump card behind.

Huawei previously brought in Vivo, OPPO, and Tencent to test Hongmneg OS and we have to wait and see if it will work towards becoming an Android replacement in the future.
