The era of 5G is upon us, and all the smartphone brands are rushing over to help us frog leap into the future with the help of their new 5G smartphones.

The next fifth generation technology is still in trial basis and won’t be available commercially before 2020, and thus even if you manage to experience it somewhere in the world, it won’t be able to offer its full potential earlier than 2023. But that hasn’t stopped us from seeking out the new 5G smartphones that are available or are coming in 2019.

To help you quench the thirst of curiosity, we have compiled the list of all 5G smartphones that have been announced, available, or are coming in the market before the end of this year.

Before the 5G rollout, although expensive, these are just the ordinary smartphones which will run on any 4G network.

Samsung Galaxy S10 5G

Samsung’s first 5G phone comes with the name of Galaxy S10 5G and is a pretty powerful device which comes with Exynos 9820 chipset coupled with 8GB RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.

It packs a 4500mAh battery under the hood which is higher than the 3400mAh battery present in the standard Galaxy S10. It is also bigger in size and features 6.7 inches of QHD AMOLED display and comes with two front-facing cameras including 10MP lens and TOF sensor.

At the back, we get a triple camera set up same as the Galaxy S10 featuring 12 MP wide lens, 12 MP telephoto lens, and 16 MP ultrawide sensor.

At the time of launch, the 256GB variant was priced at $1,299/£1,099 while the 512GB model came with the price tag of $1,399.

Huawei Mate X

Huawei Mate X is not only the company’s first 5G phone but is also the very first foldable phone by the Chinese smartphone maker. It was launched at MWC 2019, and its arrival in the market has been postponed from June to September 2019 as the company is trying to be cautious after Samsung’s Galaxy Fold humiliation.

It comes with a big 8-inch OLED display which when folded in half gives you 6.6 inches of the screen on one side and 6.4 inches of the screen on the other. The device is powered by Kirin 980 chipset and features 8GB RAM and 512 GB of storage.

It features a triple camera setup and packs a massive 4500mAh battery under the hood.  All in all the Huawei Mate X is one of the exciting devices of 2019 and will be priced at €2,299 which was announced at the time of the launch.

OnePlus 7 Pro 5G

OnePlus also announced its first 5G smartphone this year named OnePlus 7 Pro 5G which apart from its capability to connect with the 5G network has the same specifications as the standard One Plus 7 Pro.

The device comes with 6.67 inches of AMOLED display and is powered by Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 6GB/8GB/12GB of RAM and 128GB/256GB of internal storage.

For selfies, it features a motorized 16MP selfie camera for users while there is a triple camera setup including 48MP main lens, 8MP telephoto lens and 16MP ultrawide sensor at the back.

OnePlus 7 pro 5G packs a 4000mAh battery, and its price without the carrier contract has yet to be revealed.

OPPO Reno 5G

Another worthy addition to the list of 5G smartphones launched in 2019 is none other than OPPO Reno 5G. The smartphone was announced in May and is part of the company’s new Reno lineup which is built to offer premium flagship phones.

The device comes with 6.6 inches of AMOLED display and features Qualcomm SDM855 Snapdragon 855 chipset under the hood along with 8GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

It comes with motorized 16MP shark fin selfie camera at the front while the users get a triple camera setup including 48MP main lens, 13MP telephoto lens, and 16MP ultrawide sensor at the back.

The smartphone packs a 4065mAh battery and will cost €899, price announced at the tie of the launch.

LG V50 ThinQ 5G

At MWC 2019, LG unveiled its first 5G smartphone named LG V50 ThinQ 5G to the world. It is almost a foldable phone as it comes with what the company calls a Dual Screen accessory which helps you to attach a second display.

The smartphone comes with 6.4-inch QHD+ OLED display and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

It comes with triple rear cameras including 12MP primary lens, a 12MP telephoto lens and a 16MP ultra-wide sensor at the back while at the front we get a combination of an 8MP standard lens and a 5MP wide-angle lens for selfies.

The device packs a 400mAh battery and comes with military-grade drop protection. The phone has been launched with the price tag of 1,199,000 Won (~ £810 or $1,055).

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G was officially unveiled at MWC 2019 and featured a 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 64/128GB of internal storage.

In the camera department, we get the dual 12MP main lens and 12MP telephoto senor at the back while at the front there is a sliding dual 24MP main camera and 2MP depth sensor for selfies.

It has a slightly lower battery capacity, 3800mAh, as compared to the other phones on the list of 5G smartphones and its price starts from £520, which was revealed at the time of the launch.

Huawei Mate 20 X 5G

Mate 20 X 5G is another 5G smartphone from Huawei which is actually an upgraded version of the last year’s Huawei Mate 20 X smartphone which now has 5G capabilities. Unlike Mate X, this device has a simple 7.2 inches of OLED display which does not fold and is thus less expensive.

The smartphone is powered by Kirin 980 chipset coupled with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. It has triple Leica cameras at the back, including 40MP main lens, 8MP telephoto lens, and 20MP ultrawide sensor. For selfies, there is a 24MP shooter at the front which resides inside the dewdrop notch.

The phone packs a 4200mAh battery and will be available in the second half of the year.

5G Smartphones Yet to Arrive in 2019

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 5G

Samsung has not yet confirmed the existence of Galaxy Note 10 5G device but the CEO of U.S. telecom network Verizon, Hans Vestberg has recently stated that “the Note and the Galaxy coming this year will both have 5G,” which gives us hope about the smartphone. Also, many reports indicate that two 5G variants of Galaxy Note 10 are coming this fall.

While this is hardly a piece of surprising news, because many in the tech world already predicted the 5G support in Samsung’s upcoming flagship phones, it is still a welcome confirmation which makes us excited to know that another device from the South Korean smartphone maker will be capable of tapping into the amazingly fast new network speeds.

Huawei Mate 30 5G

The Chinese smartphone maker has officially confirmed the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 5G variant and the device will be coming in December 2019.

Previously, a senior Huawei exec, Mr. Ji, while talking about the possibility of 5G smartphones, said, “We have two flagship products. In March, we have the P series, and in October, we have the Mate series. So it will depend on how the chipset develops because the 5G needs high power consumption.”

Huawei is at the forefront of the 5G revolution, and as we didn’t get a P30 Pro 5G variant, we can expect the arrival of Huawei Mate 30 5G before the end of this year.

Honor 5G smartphone

Honor will be launching its first 5G smartphone this year, a news which was confirmed by George Zhao, the President of Honor himself.

Indeed, Zhao is so confident in Honor’s 5G plan that he also confirmed that the Chinese smartphone maker would be first to market with its 5G device, too. Well, the first comer ship has definitely sailed, but we are looking to see how the brand known for its affordability will price its 5G smartphone.

No details about the Honor 5G smartphone have yet been revealed, but the rumors suggest that the handset is going to arrive in the second half of 2019.

Vivo 5G

Vivo introduced its first-ever 5G smartphone at MWC Shanghai 2019 which will be commercially available in the third quarter of 2019. Currently, we don’t know much about the specs of the upcoming smartphone.

The Chinese smartphone maker also introduced a range of 5G applications, including 5G Cloud Game, 5G Screen Mirroring, and 5G EasyShare and many more smart life scenarios based on the 5G network and smartphones.

Sony Xperia  2

Sony has confirmed that it will make a 5G smartphone, but only when the next fifth generation technology will roll out. The company hasn’t made any specific claims yet, however, there are rumors that it could be Sony Xperia 2 which will be coming in the fall of 2019 or the company’s first foldable phone whose launch date is unconfirmed.

Samsung Galaxy A90

Recently, a new rumor has started to pop-up, which is hinting towards a third 5G smartphone by Samsung, which will be launched as Galaxy A90. Since it is part of the Galaxy A series, we can assume that it will be affordable than Galaxy S10 5G and the upcoming Galaxy Note 10 5G.

We do not know much about the device other than the recent rumor and can expect its arrival before the end of 2019.
